چکیده

• Crack detection of turbine blades with vibrothermography techniques. New procedure understanding crack topology and the prediction preloads in cracks. Numerical analysis for optimising blade excitation. The hot gas components a have to withstand extreme loads. As failure could catastrophic consequences, integrity entire engine must always be guaranteed, hence quick reliable structural health monitoring (SHM) or nondestructive testing techniques (NDT) are essential. In this work, an ultrasonic stimulated thermographic test system was developed efficiently detect cracks blades. used technique is based on ultrasound excitation piezo actuator, where contact surfaces excited generate frictional heat, which captured by thermal imaging camera. A method developed, temperature increase measured as function electrical energy supply actuator. This allows crack. were conducted frequency type damage experienced basic physics coupling between configuration, local velocity increase. presented helps optimize inspection cycles these components.

Vibration and Crack Detection in Gas Turbine Engine Compressor Blades using Eddy Current Sensors

High cycle fatigue (HCF) cracks generated by compressor blade vibrations are a common source of failure in gas turbine engines. Current methods for crack detection are costly, time consuming, and prone to errors. In-situ blade vibration detection would help operators avoid critical engine speeds, and help infer the presence of cracks via a change in the mode of a blade. Blade vibrations can be ...

Modal Testing and Finite Element Analysis of Crack Effects on Turbine Blades

The study of vibration response of a turbine blade helps to detect the crack presence in the blade which alters its dynamic characteristics. The change is characterized by changes in the modal parameters associated with natural frequencies. In this paper, study of vibration response is made for turbine blade in the presence of a crack like defect. Turbine blade is initially assumed as a cantile...

Induction Thermography for Surface Crack Detection and Depth Determination

In the last few years, induction thermography has been established as a non-destructive testing method for localizing surface cracks in metals. The sample to be inspected is heated with a short induced electrical current pulse, and the infrared camera records—during and after the heating pulse—the temperature distribution at the surface. Transforming the temporal temperature development for eac...
